General Update

,

It’s been awhile, and yes, I have transferred everything over to yet ANOTHER new blog! :)

Anyway, Kirby will be 3 years old in exactly two months, wow! He’s still adorable, still the happiest kid on the block. He’s doing a lot better too. Still no spoken words yet but he’s able to communicate with us in other ways which has made things a lot easier.

He’s in an ABA (applied behavior analysis) program 5 days a week, for two hours each day. He also gets a couple of extra sessions here and there and separate speech and occupational therapy.

Starting when he turns 3 he will be in the public school system’s ABA program (which is called an IBI program…individualized behavior intervention, I think). We had our initial meeting with them and it sounds like it’s going to be really good, from what I thought at our meeting AND from what I’ve heard from the Regional Center and others who have dealt with this school system.

And wanna know what? He’s going to ride to school in a little bus! *ack!* I just didn’t imagine that he’d be doing that at THREE YEARS OLD. Yikes. I know he’ll love it though. I actually think it will be a lot easier than if we dropped him off somewhere and then WE left. He has separation anxiety when we leave (especially after having Monkey, since we left him one day and came back with her!)…but he seems to be ok when HE leaves.

Since Monkey got here he’s been taking it a little hard but is already improving. She obviously takes up some of Mommy’s time which used to be Kirby’s time so he has some adjusting to do which is obviously very normal. I think overall he’s taking it pretty darn well. He does need to learn how to be gentle but I think that’s something that will come with time. He’s not gentle with anyone and just doesn’t realize what it means yet and what it does to other people.

He can be so sweet with Monkey too though, with his kisses and hugs. It’s incredibly adorable. I love my little boy, he’s fantastic!
