This is one of the biggest things that bugs me nowadays. We are past the point of knowing that there’s something going on with Kirby and we keep the close family members pretty informed on what’s going on. But STILL there are comments made about how they doubt that there’s anything wrong, especially because of how we are. I mean, I appreciate that they think he’s typical or way ahead of his age, however even after all the things we’ve explained and all the things we’ve gone through and all the feelings we have expressed on the matter…to doubt that what we’re feeling and what we know is true is just insulting.
Anyway, I just get sick of going through the same stuff over and over and over again because friends and family, who really don’t know what they’re talking about don’t trust that we, his parents who have done a lot of reading, and his doctors/specialists who have gone to school for this stuff, know what we’re talking about. To add a little bit more, it’s a bit annoying when we explain something that he’s having trouble with and they say “so what, when is he ever going to need to do that”. They don’t understand no matter how much we explain it that these things are representative of fundamental skills that may affect him greatly.
