Lining Check…good!

Today I had my ultrasound to check the thickness of the lining of my uterus and make sure everything looks good, and it does! Transfer is still scheduled for Monday.

I also started my progesterone injections last night. I was truly freaked out about the whole thing. I felt like I was going to faint while I waited for hubby to do it! But it was TOTALLY easy. The needle didn’t even hurt going in at all and then there was just mild discomfort while he pushed the progesterone in. I made sure to warm up my skin and muscles first where the needle goes (my rear end) and rubbed it afterward and it was fine. It’s a little sore and I expect that to stay like that until I’m done with these (few months!), but am just glad I don’t have to fear the needle anymore!

I’m not sure if everyone has this, but I was given larger needles (22 1/2 gauge) for drawing the liquid and then smaller needles to inject with (25 1/2 gauge). So I draw, switch needles, then inject. If I had to inject with the same large needle I’m sure I’d have a huge welt on my butt. The only reason I wonder if all others do it this way is because on the training video I watched, there was no mention of switching needles. I feel lucky!

So I am now doing nightly injections of progesterone, estrogen patches every other day, 1 baby aspirin every day, my thyroid med every day and then starting Saturday, and for 5 days, I’ll have an antibiotic and a steroid to take (one is once/day, one is twice/day) and then the day of the transfer I’ll take a Valium to relax everything. Lots of stuff to take but it’s not bad. At least I only have one injection per day instead of two or three (no lupron like others have, and no estrogen since I have the patches).

Looking forward to Monday…gosh, if I have this much anticipation prior to the transfer, I’m going to go completely batty during the two weeks while we wait to see if it worked.
