Well, yesterday was Kirby’s first day of school. I’ve been talking about school all week and how much fun it will be and “does he want to go to school?” and stuff. He was pretty wound up while we were out there waiting for the teachers – lots of kids running around, lots of adults running around. I think he was overstimulated. We couldn’t even get him to look at us or smile or listen or anything. He wanted to play on this grassy hill but immediately slid down on his butt and got stains on his new pants. Doh! He’s a boy so I should expect that! The teacher was holding his hand and started to walk away. He still didn’t know what was happening. We were saying goodbye and telling him to “say goodbye, Kirby” and he kept waving at the teacher. :( We’ve never had to tell him to “say goodbye” to US before. He realized as they walked away and he kept looking back at us, and tried once to get away and run back. But no crying at that point. (I’m surprised I didn’t cry.) Wanna know when he cried?? When he saw me in the afternoon and it was time to go home!!! :( I guess he liked it!! Poor me. :lol
I forgot to mention how he would NOT get in the car – I was holding Monkey, it was about 90 degrees in midday sun, and Kirby was FIGHTING me getting in the car. I couldn’t let go of him for fear he would run across the street and I couldn’t get him up off the ground and I had nowhere to put Monkey. It was comical. Not. Oh, and then he of course did the stiff as a board thing when trying to strap him in the carseat.
